Two people have died on spot and twenty others injured in an accident along Mubende highway.
The accident occurred this morning at Kyakatebe, about twenty kilometers from Mityana to Mubende when a lorry registration number UAZ 787 E knocked a Costa registration number UAM 750 H that was ferrying pupils of Bright Grammar P/s from Kakumiro district to Entebbe Airport for a study tour.
Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, Norbert Ochom, says the conductor of the Costa identified as George William Ssenono and a pedestrian, Mary Bukenya were killed on spot.
The injured were rushed to Mubende hospital where they are still being attended to. Ronald Nsamba Ronald, a relative to one of the victims, says most of the victims are pupils and their teachers.
“We were taking pupils on a trip, but I was not in that vehicle but my wife and our two children were there, plus my brother and his wife together with their three children. Even the school director, my brother was in the car with his wife and about three of their children as well as my sister and her two children. As a family, we had like 25 members in the vehicle who could have lost their lives” Nsamba said.
