The Commissioner General of Uganda Prisons, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija has finally bowed to Court pressure and relocated the Rwenzururu Kingdom Prime Minister, Johnson Thembo Kitsumbire from Kirinnya prisons in Jinja district to Luzira Maximum Prison in Kampala.

Jinja Chief Magistrate, John Francis Kaggwa issued two summons directing Byabashaija to appear before court and explain why Thembo is being held at Kirinnya prisons.

Thembo's legal team had petitioned court accusing the Prisons authorities of failing to transfer their client to Luzira Maximum, which has better facilities given his advantage and would enable him to easily access medical attention.

On Monday morning, one of the lawyers representing the Rwenzururu King, Charles Wesley Mumbere and his team, Caleb Alaka, said the prime minister was finally relocated to Luzira prisons. "The prime minister is being brought from Luzira Maximum Prison where he was transferred on the directives of the Jinja Magistrates Court," he said. Thembo is expected to appear before court this morning for his bail application.

By press time, the Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere had already arrived in court where he joined his royal guards for the mention of their case. They are charged with 41 counts of treason, terrorism, murder, attempted murder and aggravated robbery.

Prosecution alleges that the Rwenzururu King, his guards and others still at large, between the month of March and November 2016 in different places within Kasese and Kabarole districts, allegedly planned to overthrow a lawfully established government by force of arms
