The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has spoken tough on the recent kasese mascres that left hundreds of people dead and several others in prison including the Omusinga of Rwenzururu Charles Wesley Mumbere.

In his Christmas message released today, the Kabaka mourned all those that died in the clashes between security organs and the royal guards of Rwenzururu Kingdom.

“We are saddened by the number of people who died in the Kasese clashes, and we hope the central government will do everything to investigate and punish all the culprits who fueled these clashes, and find ways to ensure that such an incident doesn’t happen again in future” the Kabaka’s message read.

He also addressed the issue of universities striking throughout the year. At least universities went on strike including Makerere University which is yet to re-open after months of closure.

Kabaka Mutebi indicates that parents, lecturers and students all lose so much in time and finances each time there is a strike. He proposes a dialogue to end such unnecessary fighting at universities.
