The opposition Uganda peoples’ congress, UPC has called for an immediate dialogue process between Government and all stakeholders in Kasese to find solutions to the many grievances and give guidance.

Speaking to the press at Uganda house, the home of UPC today morning party president Hon. Jimmy Akena called upon government to immediately drop the case against the Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere as the continued legal handcuffing of the king will not resolve the problems of Kasese and will only create further grievances that will at some point in the future manifest themselves.

According to Hon. Akena, UPC has been consistent in maintaining that the underlying problem in Kasese is an economic one.

“Government has been the largest landowners in the region in the form of institutions and commercial activities. The creation of districts in order to placate communities has not addressed as a whole as opposed to focusing on the different communities’ individually.”

He believes such a process would generate moral confidence, a sense of belonging and ownership of Government directives in line with the aspirations of the communities as a whole.
