President Yoweri Museveni has appointed a 9-member 'Visitation Committee' to probe into affairs of Makerere University, after at least two weeks of closure.

“In exercise of powers vested to me, I have appointed the following Visitation Committee to inquire into affairs of Makerere University” the President wrote on his twitter handle.

Visitation Committee leadership includes: Dr Abel Rwendeire the committee Chairman, Lady Justice Keturah Katunguka as Deputy Chairperson.

The president also appointed; Hon Tim Lwanga, Dr Florence Muranga, Dr Proscovia Sentamu, Mr John F.S. Muwanga, Dr Paul Musasizi, Dr Kisoro and Eng. Lumu.

His instructions indicate that the committee’s work starts immediately.

President Museveni closed the institution early this month after failed negotiations between the university administration and teaching staff on payment of the latters’ salary incentives for now 9 months

The new committee will review the reports of the old committees that the president has setup in the past, find out what was implemented or not implemented and why, as well as making new recommendations if necessary.
