Maj. Gen. Oketta’s Body to lie in State for Public Viewing this morning

Parliament is this morning holding a special session to pay tribute to former Army Member of Parliament, Major General Julius Oketta who died of a blood clot on Saturday morning at Kadic Hospital in Kampala.

A program issued by Defense Ministry Spokesperson, Lt. Colonel Paddy Ankunda, shows that Oketta's body left the mortuary for parliament at 8am this morning and will lie in state in parliament between 10am and 2pm before it is moved to his home in Kungu in Wakiso district.

Tomorrow Tuesday, the body will be moved to Our Lady of Africa Church in Mbuya for a requiem mass between 10am to 2pm.

The army will fly the body to Gulu on the same day between 1pm and 3pm where it will lay in state in the district council hall from 4pm to 5pm.

There after the army will transport the body to Oketta's ancestral home in Amuru district on Wednesday.

The late General will be laid to rest on Wednesday 9th between 10am and 4pm.

Government is yet to release autopsy results detailing the cause of death but the Prime minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda told the nation on Sunday that a postmortem indicates that he died of a blood clot, though they are awaiting a detailed report.
