Every successful musician has a different account of how they got to where they are today, there is a ton of luck involved but there plenty of other key factors that put a musician in a position to launch a successful music career.
Some Musicians run off their feet to get to the top but Majority are fueled by a team of people normally headed by a Manager. A Music Manager handles the business related part of the music while the Musician concentrates on producing Music. As a musician it is a struggle to juggle both the business bit of a music career and composing songs.
On the local Music Scene, there are Music Managers that are often pronounced and partially famous as the musicians they work with Jeff Kiwanuka is one of the most popular music managers on the music, ground, he has worked with singers like Jose Chameleone, Radio and Weasel, Pallaso and currently managing Sheebah Karungi among others.
The success of all the afore mentioned singers arguably leans on J.Kiwanuka's involvement and mastery in their careers. He became more visible with the rise of Radio and Weasel commonly referred to as East Africa's dynamic duo. The trio disbanded from Chameleone's Leone Island music Label to start Goodlyf crew.
Radio and Weasel enjoyed huge success under the stewardship of Jeff Kiwanuka and his brother Allan Kiwanuka, the duo scooped several awards and recognitions including a nomination in the prestigious BET during Kiwanuka's reign.
His relationship with Radio and Weasel however ended in the ugliest way, with bar fights and struggle of ownership of their Makindye based Neverland House. The disbandment led to the birth of another music group named Team No Sleep, it included singers Pallaso, Sheebah, Ak47 (rip), Bakri, Lydia Jazmine, to mention a few.
Many of the mentioned musicians suffer setbacks after ending relationship with Jeff Kiwanuka, he has been accused to being a witch, and his name is patched with all sorts of evil talks of having a hand in Ak47's death.
Radio & Weasel have been struggling musically since the breakup with Jeff, they have not earned any sounding success in comparison to Jeff's days.
Artistes like Lydia Jasmine, Bakri have totally gone underground since they quit Team No sleep. Pallaso hasn't had a hit song like Go down low or Twatoba since Jeff Kiwanuka.
Emma Carlos Mulondo, another renowned Music Manager currently working with Khalifah Aganaga under the label Twinkle Star Agency, is another figure whose mastery has birthed a couple of Musicians like Wafagio girls, Coco finger et al. Many of the Musicians he handles however enjoy only few minutes of fame and cease to be heard after breaking up with him.
Whether it is an issue of witchcraft catching up with these Musicians or failure to land better Management, we can't tell.
Remember Henry Tigan and his former Manager Suddi Man, Tigan enjoyed immense success under Suddi's Management but things turned upside down after their break up.
