First things first the music industry is so competitive and full of challenges, in that an artist must be willing and ready to face them for the sake of staying on form. Gone are the days when one would release a song or two in a year and still be on top. If you’re an artist out there just know that’s a no no…you can’t do that, never not in this era with a lot of new kids on the block.
There are quite a few mistakes that most artists do that has rendered them upcoming for decades and here are some of them, that I observed over years of music experience.
One common mistake is rubbing shoulders with the media.
Media is one hell of a party in music that you don’t want to pick up a fight with because they control almost everything from promotions, press releases for concerts, your new projects , distribution of music and many more just to mention but a few.
Beefing Already Established artists.
There are no ways you’re going to be on top if some of the top artists don’t approve your worth in the music industry. Without their support it’s hard for you to get a gig as a curtain raiser at any big concert, you won’t have a ‘collabo’ with big artist if don’t squash your beef if you have any with any established artist.
Insufficient publicity and up professional music production.
When there’s no publicity good enough for you, just know you’re going to be upcoming for ages. Tell me how do you expect to be recognized without good music, major appearances on tv, music countdown shows and events. If you really need recognition be somewhere, do something and create awareness of youre talent …that way you get the reputation you deserve to be recognized.
