If you thought the “Kimye” bloggers were the top dogs of social media, think again.
Meet Mina Gerges, a Canadian college student whose low-budget Instagram snaps imitating Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj have become a viral sensation. When he’s not prepping for his next exam, the 20-year-old is busy recreating glamorous looks made famous by some of Hollywood’s hottest stars.
“I make everything myself,” Gerges tells BuzzFeed. “I purchase curtains and hold them with pins, and everything else I put on them I stick with glue.”
Whether he’s posing like Queen Bey at the Grammys or mimicking Rihanna’s latest red carpet look, Gerges’ photos for his 35,000-plus Instagram followers serve a greater purpose.
The self-proclaimed Kardashian fan admits he’s hoping “for people to see overexposed celebrities in a new light, highlighting the photo shop extremes of some celeb pictures,” which often promote impossible beauty standards and negative body image.
