Okay, before people get too excited it's important to say that this could all be a rumor, but Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole's joint album could be dropping soon.

Based on Internet chatter, the album is called "Reminiscing," and the artwork was tweeted by an account listed under @BestOfJCole. The North Carolina rapper's actual Twitter handle is @JColeNC, so chances are the cover is a fake.

Why are we reporting on it then?

For the simple fact that nothing has been proven yet either way. Plus, any ardent hip-hop fan will always keep hope alive in situations like this until something is confirmed or denied.

The artwork that surfaced shows a younger looking Kendrick and Cole staring in opposite directions. There's also two separate images of the rappers looking older, as they do today. The throwback photos obviously go with the title "Reminiscing," suggesting the songs might be part of a concept album.

Whether "Reminiscing" will be an actual release or not will probably be determined very soon, since false Internet rumors have an interesting way of losing steam quickly. One thing we do know, however, is both Lamar and J want to do a joint album, and they've continuously sang each other's praises in the press.

In fact, Cole said that Kendrick's music is so powerful, he has the potential to end gang violence in his hometown.

"I'm just explaining to him, like 'I feel like you can do it,'" said the Roc Nation artist in an interview with Saint Heron. "'You have the respect of that neighborhood and L.A. on another level.'"

The "Section 80" creator also spoke highly of Cole and said he not only loved his album "2014 Forest Hills Drive," he loved the way it was presented to his fans.

"How they went about it, popping up at fans' houses?" he said. "Come on, man. You don't get the marketing resources from a record label. That's them."

For now, we'll have to curb our enthusiasm a bit until we know more but until that time comes, it's nice to be hopeful. Drake and Future pulled off a joint mixtape release, right? So why not Kendrick and Cole?
