According to Ghafla, Kenya’s entertainment news site .Kenyan female artist, Amani, Uganda’s Music Industry Is Bigger than Kenya’s, Artistes Should be Proud of Their Media

In Uganda Raggae musician Bebe Cool  was the first artist to come out to protest what he called the sidelining of local music at the expense of Nigerian and South African music. Much of his blame was put on DJs. Remember wars between Bebe Cool and Dj Bekaay, and some Radio Presenters Like Fat Boy

“Countries like Uganda (media) offer like; 90% airplay to their music and that is why their music industry is a head of ours. That is because they play their music. Once you put your music out there, somehow it just tends to grow and the industry starts flourishing,” Amani said

“In contrast, our media offers less that 60% airplay to local musicians.”

The Kiboko Changu singer further adds that Kenyan musicians are actually more popular outside, than in their country and that is why they get more nominations for various awards than Tazanians and Ugandans.
