For years now, songstress Leila Kayondo has failed to release a hit song giving many of her fans a thought that she could probably quit music.
However the "Manifesto" singer managed to scoop a nomination in the Nigeria based Awards as the best East Africa Female artiste where she will tussle it out with the likes of Butera Knowless, Charly & Nina from Rwanda, Vanessa Mdee, Nandy from Tanzania, Victoria Kimani, Akothee from Kenya and fellow Ugandans Sheebah, Rema Namakula and Juliana Kanyomozi.
Her nomination has come with a lot of criticism as many think she doesn't deserve to be on the list.
Actually, one of the music critics branded Afrimma a joke.
" Leila Kayondo best artiste? Afrimma is a total joke. Its like she hasn't gone to studio for years. Right now, all she knows is display her much lacking body on instagram. Maybe, these are instagram nude awards. You see, even at her peak, she did not win a single local award. I don't understand how she got this nomination," narrated one of the top music critics in Uganda.
But a close source has told Howwe that her nomination was influenced by striker entertainment, a Nigerian record label she is signed to.
