Rick Ross’ condition remains in critical condition this weekend after suffering what appears to be a heart-related emergency.  But at least two people close the rapper are disputing claims that Ross is clinging to life.

And he definitely ain’t dead yet.

Here’s what we know right now:

Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, suffered a medical emergency early Thursday at his residence in Davie, Florida, according to details still emerging.  Police records indicate that an initial emergency response occurred during the early morning hours of Thursday, March 1st, and that the condition was heart-related.

Apparently the first emergency call was canceled, though Ross was later rushed to the hospital.

TMZ subsequently claimed that the rapper was battling for his life.  “Rick Ross has been hooked up to a machine that’s taking over the function of his heart and lungs,” TMZ reported.

Sounds pretty serious.  The TMZ report continues:  “We’re told doctors have put him on something called ECMO, or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. It’s a technique used to oxygenate his blood outside of his body, before it’s pumped back into his body.”

“It’s essentially a form of life support, and a clear sign of how dire the situation is.”

Not true, says at least one family member — as well as a rapper signed to Ross’ label.

But TMZ is standing by its story, noting that the family initially denied that Ross had entered a hospital.  That is, despite an EMT recording being posted on the site.

Separately, a rapper signed to Ross’ Maybach Music Group, Fat Trel, has admitted to the hospitalization but says there’s no ‘life support situation’.

Trel posted the following on Instagram over the weekend:

“JUS TALKED 2 MY BIG HOMIE… HE GOOD… HE IN DA HOSPITAL BUT HE IS NOT ON “LIFE SUPPORT” … HE GOOD💯💯💯 #MMG @richforever”

Meanwhile, some on Twitter (and other places online) are already declaring the rapper dead.  But there’s nothing to substantiate those claims at all.

Others are busy praying for the rapper, regardless of the conflicting updates.  That includes Gucci Mane, Mike Tyson, Diddy, and Missy Elliott, among others.

Ross has been chronically obese for most of his life.  And this isn’t his first health scare.

At one point, Rick Ross reportedly tipped the scales at 350 pounds, though the rapper has attempted some weight loss regimens.  Separately, the rapper has suffered a pair of seizures in 2011, though Ross blamed the meltdowns on sleep deprivation.

“I would get two hours of sleep and keep moving, me being a hustler,” Ross said.
