Time and again, we have woken up to breaking news of burnt bars in Kampala. So many theories run around as to why they are burnt into ashes. Top hangouts have been a victim of fire.
Today, we talked to an expert in police who is in fire safety department and revealed the following;
Bar owners burn the bars- it is just a game
Shockingly, we have been informed that most of Kampala bars are burnt by owners. It is hard to run a bar business for more than 4 years. New bars open daily and it has become so hard to maintain the clientele. Due to such kind of frustration, bar owners hatch a plan that will bring back the customers. They want to get public sympathy. To support this allegation, police gave us an estimate number of bars around town that have caught fire. They confirmed to us that, there is no bar that has caught fire and no people have been reported dead. Most bars are burnt in the early hours of morning. By then, clients are not in the bar. The owners even make sure that the money is removed earlier before the bar is burnt.
Then the following day, the bar owners start crying crocodile tears. Sometimes these people have loan from banks and they use such excuses to get away with it.
