Congolese music maestro Koffi Olomide has issued a belated apology to Kenyans, three months after he was deported for kicking one of his dancers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

During the July incident, caught on video, Koffi was seen heading to the dancer and unleashing a kick on her behind. Police officers, who were at the scene rushed to calm him down, before his handlers escorted him to his car which immediately sped off.

After his deportation from Kenya, the musician was immediately arrested upon return to his hometown in Kinshasa and spent a week in jail before he was released on bail.

He never issued any apology for his actions, until on Sunday when a video of a recorded statement was aired at the Churchill Show.

In his apology, the musician asked his Kenyan fans to forgive him for he is only a human being.

“The boldest thing that I have ever done is apologise. Most people thought I would not be able to do it, but I am doing it and I would do it again from the bottom of my heart,” said the “Selfie” singer.

He continued; “My fellow brothers and sisters in Kenya, I want to send you a message of love and respect. I am sorry for what happened last time and I ask that you forgive me for what happened. I am only a human being even though I am a superstar.”
