Makerere University Private Admissions, Academic Year 2015-2016 List Out

Makerere University Kampala has released the list of students admitted under the private sponsorship programme for the academic year 2015-2016.

The list shows that the university has this year admitted over 20,000 students on the private scheme in addition to the 2,000 who are sponsored by the Government.

Mr. Charles Ssentongo, the deputy academic registrar in charge of undergraduate admissions today said that students wishing to pursue their degrees at the country’s oldest institution on private scheme should start picking their admission letters on July 22nd

He said their academic year will begin on August 15th

However, he cautioned students to pay 60 per cent of tuition for their respective courses including functional fees, before they could pick the admission letters, saying those who would have not paid will be issued with provisional letters.

“First year students should pick their admission forms starting 22nd July, which will be next week, Wednesday. But they must have paid 60 per cent of tuition and the functional fees immediately. The semester is still as scheduled,” Ssentongo said.

In the released list all students have been admitted through the direct entry scheme for A’ level leavers

Of those admitted, about 5402  students have been posted to the Makerere University Business School(MUBS) in Nakawa, while upcountry campuses in Jinja and Fort-Portal have taken about 300 students each.

Central Tops Makerere Admissions

Kampala and Wakiso districts have, like under the government scholarship, topped Makerere University private admissions.

Of the 17002 students admitted to the institution, 2257 are from Kampala, followed by Wakiso District with 2,205 slots.

These were followed by districts like Mbabara,Ntungamo,Rukungiri,Masaka,Kabarole,Luweero,Jinja and others.

Ten districts sent less than 10 students to Makerere University;Moroto (9),Nwoya (8), Buvuma (7), Kotido (7), Nakapiripirit (6), Kalangala (6),Otuke (5),Kaabong(5) ,Yumbe (4) and Amudat (3) .

According to the list, a total number of 112 districts managed to send students at Makerere while 24 districts out the total 136 districts did not send any student.

Students who will not find placement in public universities can try in the 22 private universities.
