Makerere University hiked tuition for the 2014/15 academic year and this students say is not favorable at all and have asked the the current VC 'Dumba Sentamu' to resign.
He is so conservative he can't manage a multi- demensional institute like makerere,he over relies on state funds, yet makerere can generate its own Revenue/income (self sustainable) with little support from government. - one James Okello commented
Makerere University made a 10% increment with effective from 2014/15 academic year. This will affect both local and international students who intend to join the institution on private sponsorship.
The University supreme decision-making council had earlier approved the increment despite resistance from Makerere University staff.
This also follows the delay in services by Makerere University staff after patiently waiting for their salaries but in vain. Students papers and courseworks were not attended to for almost 2 months untill last week.
Students have stormed the streets of the university demanding that the vice chancellor Mr. Dumba Sentamu to resign from office.
