The newly appointed chancellor of the Ivory tower, Dr. Ezra Suruma has this afternoon been fully installed.
During the ceremony that took place in the university hall, Dr. Ezra Suruma, also former finance minister thanked the search committee and the University council for entrusting him as well as the President for his appointment.
He immediately accepted the responsibility and promised to contribute his best to make Makerere better than he found it.
“I accept the responsibility to contribute my best to make Makerere better than I found it.”
Dr. Suruma also promised to do everything within his power with the help of God to ensure academic excellence at MUK.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who is representing the president as chief guest thanked the Makerere University council for presenting a person of high integrity as Prof. Ezra Suruma saying they had mad his work easy.
Dr. Rugunda argued that Prof. Apollo Nsibambi, Prof. Mondo Kagonyera and now Prof. E Suruma are patriotic Ugandans who excelled in research & academia.
“Prof. Apollo Nsibambi, Prof. Mondo Kagonyera and now Prof. Ezra Suruma are patriotic Ugandans, excelled in research & academia.”
Dr. Suruma was appointed in October 2015, replacing Prf. Mondo Kagonyera.
