Eight Motorcycles recovered from thieves in Oyam district

Eight motorcycles stolen from districts across the Lango sub-region in Oyam District have been have recovered by the Police. The motorcycles were recovered during an intelligence-led operation following numerous complaints from Lira City and other areas.

Eight motorcycles stolen from districts across the Lango sub-region in Oyam District have been have recovered by the Police. The motorcycles were recovered during an intelligence-led operation following numerous complaints from Lira City and other areas.

The first operation was conducted at the home of Maxwell Ocen, a resident of Otwe B village, Obangangeo parish in Acaba sub county where three motorcycles registration numbers UDR 589N, UFJ 566V, and UFL 373Z were recovered. 
Ocen is on the run but his wife has been arrested to help with investigations.

Another search was conducted at the home of Ambrose Ayo which led to the recovery of six motorcycles of registration numbers UDK 553G, UFJ 741R, UFH 642V, UEC 771X, UFG 431T, and UFN 227S together with some spare parts. Motorcycle registration number UFJ 741R is believed to have been stolen from Senior Quarters in Lira City East Division where the owner Kennedy Engim was murdered.

Motorcycle number UFL 373Z was stolen from a church in the Apac district when the owner Patrick Okwir was praying. Innocent Mubanginzi, the Oyam District Police Commander, says that all the motorcycles are parked at Oyam Central Police Station pending verification before they are transferred to Kampala.

According to Jimmy Patrick Okema the North Kyoga police spokesperson, although the motorcycles have been recovered, the thieves have a well-coordinated team operating in different places. 
Okema called on local leaders especially LC I and LC III chairpersons to support the police in investigating some of these cases, saying police do not work in isolation.
