Police in Pader district are holding a 22-year-old man for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl.
The suspect Moris Ayella, a resident of Rachkoko A village, Lunyiri sub-county, Pader district, defiled the minor on Wednesday at around 8 pm.
Ayella reportedly carried the minor from her house to his room while she was asleep, in the absence of the mother.
Jennifer Apiyo, 36, the mother of the victim, says she left the child with the sister sleeping and went to the neighborhood.
Apiyo told police that she was shocked to see her daughter return home crying with blood on her dress and narrated the ordeal.”
David Ongom Mudong, the police spokesperson for Aswa River Region says the suspect is being investigated for aggravated defilement.
Ongom says police visited the scene and recovered the victim’s clothes stained with blood, and that forensic analysis is pending. The suspect will be examined to ascertain his health status.
“We condemn the rising cases of defilement and advise parents to avoid leaving vulnerable juveniles in environments where they are easy targets for defilers,” Mudong said
