The Police in Busia is investigating a murder by burning which occurred in Bwakama Village, Ngamita Parish, Majanji S/c, Busia District.

Police arrested a 25-year-old woman identified as Nafula Betty (suspect) a resident of the area mentioned above, for pouring hot water on a four-year-old child identified as Anyango Faith.

The suspect was later produced in Courts of Law where she was convicted on her own plea of guilty and sentenced to 5 yrs in Prison.

However, while serving her Prisons time, the victim succumbed to the injuries, bringing up a new case of Murder due to burning with hot water.

This case was reported at Majanji Police Station on 12/06/2022.

Origin of the case

It is alleged that on 15 January 2022, Egesa Stephen a single father of Anyango married Nafula. However, on 10th /06 /2022, she boiled water and inserted Anyango who was crippled into it causing her severe burns on the buttocks and the legs.

The community attempted to lynch Nafula but she was saved by the police who arrested and brought her to police where a case of doing grievous harm was preferred against the suspect.

She was taken to court on 22/06 22, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 5 years’ imprisonment.

Her charge will now be amended to murder.
