Police has registered a total of 46 incidents throughout the country and arrested 417 individuals last week.

According to Fred Enanga, three teachers of pajobi primary school in Pakwach district were arrested after they were found teaching 31 P.7 pupils.

Police also impounded 36 motorcycles for illegal transportation of passengers and movement during curfew hours.

Meanwhile, in Kagadi district, police arrested councilors who were illegally distributing food to residents. One of the councilors is identified as Akugizibwe Livingstone an LCV councilor who was found distributing flour to victims of floods in Kitebere, Kabukanga and Kamina parishes in Kagadi. Police arrested him along with Issa Arinaitwe and confiscated 45 bags of maize flour measuring 5kgs each.

“We call upon the UNBS to come and carry tests on the food that was being distributed to find out whether it is of standard quality for human consumption. We have guided that whoever wants to distribute food should work with the district task force or national task force in that respect” Enange said.

The police mouthpiece warned truck drivers and boda boda riders against carrying passengers. He noted that one truck driver identified as Makoba Paul who was driving a Fuso truck UBA 577P carrying ten passengers and food stuffs headed for Abim market.

According to Enanga, the individuals were all arrested and the vehicle impounded to Sironko police station.
