Police recovers Rifle, stick hand grenade in Northern Uganda

Police has recovered an SMG rifle with seven rounds of ammunition. The gun, according to police spokesperson AIGP Asan Kasingye, was recovered from Alibi village, Mugoji parish, Odravu Sub County, in Yumbe district.

Police has recovered an SMG rifle with seven rounds of ammunition. The gun, according to police spokesperson AIGP Asan Kasingye, was recovered from Alibi village, Mugoji parish, Odravu Sub County, in Yumbe district.

The gun is of the Yugoslavia make. Kasingye says two suspects are in custody, to help with investigations.

According to Kasingye, the rifle has been exhibited and police is searching for other suspects who are believed to be in the same network that robs and abducts people in the region.

Elsewhere, in coner Lawala village, Agweng sub county, Lira district, a stick hand grenade was recovered at the home of one of the residents during a search operation, mounted by police flying squad and field force officers.

Kasingye says the grenade was found wrapped in a black polythene bag, in a hidden behind the pit latrine. The suspect is still at large and the grenade was safely removed and taken by UPDF bomb experts for management. Investigations to determine the source of this grenade have commenced.
