Ruling on bail application for Rwenzururu Prime Minister Johnson Thembo Kitsumbire has been adjourned to Thursday.

Jinja High court Judge Eva Luswata deferred the ruling which was meant to be delivered today because she was engaged in other state duties.

Clad in a black suite and white shirt, Thembo was brought to court at 10am expecting to be released but was instead taken back to Luzira Prisons after waiting for almost two hours in the court cells.

Samuel Muyizzi, one of the lawyers representing Kitsumbire, said the adjournment is a big blow to his client since his health requires immediate medical attention.

The premier had initially told court that he has substantial sureties who are willing to stand for him including the Busongora South MP, Jackson Mbaju. Caleb Alaka, one of his lawyers also argued that the state hadn't raised any objection to the application, implying that they have no problem with Kitsumbire being released on bail.
