At least 14 of the 18 people arrested during the raid on Nakasero mosque late last month have been released.

These were freed by the police Flying Squad last evening, while four others remain in prison waiting to be charged and produced before court.

18 people were picked up by police on December 27 last year during a raid on Nakasero Mosque in Kampala.

On Thursday, the suspects were being held at Nalufenya Police Station in Jinja District were transferred to Kampala Central Police Station where they were released by Police Flying Squad Unit which was responsible for the raid.

Those released are; Ayub Nyende, Abdul Mu’umin, Umar Kamoga, Ismail Kasibante, Musa Semanda, Juma Kavuma and Hamis Kabwama,

Ashraf Mawanda, Muhammad Senyonga, Muzamiru Ssekamatte, Abdu Abdallah Isabirye, Hassan Twaha, Shafiq Sebandeke, and Abdallah Lubega.

Their release has been confirmed by Siraje Kifampa the acting spokesperson of the Tabliq Muslim sect, who also explained that the acting Amir of the Tabliq Muslim sect Sheikh Yahya Mwanje and others were not released and will be produced to court.

They are likely to be charged with terrorism and murder related offences include Sheikh Yahaya Mwanje, former Amir Umah (leader) of Tabliq Muslims, Sheikh Muhammad Buyondo, Abdul Wahaab and Musa Sekandi.
