Legislators from Kasese district and lawyers of the Omusinga wa Rwenzururu Charles Wesley Mumbere on Thursday met with Herman Von Hebel the ICC registrar over the recent clashes in the region that led to the arrest of Mumbere.

Earlier this week, the opposition Forum for Democratic change and MPs from Kasese threatened to report President Museveni to the ICC over the Mass killings whose official death toll has now been put to 104, according to the defence ministry.

Led by the leader of opposition, also Kasese woman MP Winnie Kiiza, MPs including Godfrey Katusabe of Bukonzo west, Robert Centenary of Kasese Municipality and William Nzoghu of Busongora North together with lawyers Caleb Alaka and Samuel Mulindwa Muyizzi held a three hour closed door meeting with Hebel at the International Crimes Division of the High Court in Kololo.

Muyizzi one of Mumbere’s lawyers told journalists after the meeting that they had met the registrar to hand him an application asking the ICC to interest itself in investigating what he called the heinous crimes that government committed in Kasese from November 25th to 27th 2016.

He explains that Hebel advised them to file their complaint in the Hague Netherlands where the ICC head offices are located.

But, the leader of opposition Kiiza denied motive of the meeting claiming she had only attended as a court user.
