Following an arrest warrant issued over the weekend, comedian Maulana Kasozi has been taken into custody. In a circulating video on social media, Maulana is seen being escorted onto a police patrol pickup and driven away.
The warrant was issued by Mwanga 2 Court after Maulana allegedly defied court orders to provide care for his three children, failing to meet the daily requirement of Shs15,000. The mother of his children, Shubira Naluja, reported him for neglect.
"He is not doing anything. I struggle to look for what to feed the children. The landlord is demanding rent, and previously he used to visit and leave with pennies which couldn’t help us. And when I felt I couldn’t take it anymore, he asked me to give him the children," she narrated on Bukedde TV last Saturday.
In response to the allegations, Maulana defended himself on social media, claiming that Naluja suffers from a mental disorder. He also disclosed that she allegedly attempted to poison both of them and shared a referral note from Butabika Hospital.
