Forensic experts have confirmed a critical link between the fatal shooting of vlogger Isma Olaxes and the recent attack on Pastor Aloysius Bugingo. The pistol used in both incidents has been identified as the same weapon, raising significant concerns over a potential connection between the two cases.

The assault on Pastor Bugingo resulted in the tragic death of his bodyguard and driver, Corporal Richard Muhumuza. Corporal Muhumuza, a highly trained soldier from the Special Forces Command (SFC), was responsible for safeguarding key figures and installations in the country. His body was found with 13 bullet wounds, and a ballistic examination revealed that the recovered bullets from the crime scene and the projectiles retrieved from his body directly linked to the pistol used in Isma Olaxes's murder.

Isma Olaxes was killed in May 2023 outside his residence in Kyanja, Nakawa Division, Kampala. Despite an eight-month investigation, detectives have made no significant progress, and no suspects have been apprehended in connection with Olaxes’s case.

Sources have confirmed that the pistol in question was not recorded in any security agencies' records. However, the latest findings establish a direct connection between the weapon used in Isma Olaxes's murder and the failed assassination attempt on Pastor Bugingo.

Meanwhile, Pastor Bugingo’s vehicle, which bears 11 visible bullet holes, has been transferred from the Directorate of Forensic Science (DFS) at Naguru police headquarters to the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) in Kibuli. This move came after an agreement between the Directorate Crime Intelligence (DCI) and DFS that CID should take over the investigation.

The vehicle was driven to CID headquarters by a police driver, but drama ensued as senior CID officers questioned the transfer without the director's consent. To resolve the disagreement, it was decided to hand over Pastor Bugingo’s vehicle to the Inspector of Vehicles Officer (IOV) at Old Kampala.

Senior Commissioner of Police -SCP Beata Chelimo is heading the investigations at CID headquarters. In a bid to uncover the truth behind the botched assassination, investigators have collected seven CCTV videos from Salt Media premises and police security cameras on the road, including cameras on private buildings. These efforts aim to piece together the events leading up to the attacks and shed light on the intricate details of both cases.
