Uganda Communications Commission(UCC) issued a directive to all gossip TV shows to only air between 10 pm and 5 am after they reportedly failed to meet the minimum broadcasting standards.
The memo was targeting shows like NBS Uncut, Spark TV Livewire, Short Circuit on Urban TV among others.
Most television stations changed their programming and did not go beyond the stipulated time except for Spark TV’s Livewire which aired at 7:30 pm on Wednesday.
And this may force UCC to revoke their broadcasting license for not abiding by the directive.
We have learned that the legal team at the Serena-based TV station is working around the clock to ensure that the TV remains on the air.
