Comedian Joseph Opio has been nominated in the 2020 Emmy Award in the category, Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.
Opio works with the Trevor Noah as a script writer. He formerly worked at Urban TV and The Kampala Sun.
Emmy Awards recognizes excellence in the American television industry.
It is presented at numerous annual events held throughout the calendar year, each honoring one of the various sectors of the television industry.
Another Ugandan, David Kibuka has also been nominated.
The Emmy Awards are set to take place on September 21, 2020 at the Microsoft Theater and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
