With her fast rising to fame, Sheila has received numerous critics both from the public and her own fans. She has kept her head high and she is now among the top news anchors in the city.

Who is Sheila Nduhukire?

She was born and raised from western Uganda. She is the daughter Bishop Steven Namanya of North Ankole diocese. Being the eldest girl in the family, she has always acted as a leader. She was the guild president of Mbarara University. When she left the University, she worked as a reporter for Red pepper based in Mbarara.

She later joined daily monitor as a reporter. She worked as freelance journalist at daily monitor for close to two years before Maurice Mugisha spotted her.

Her Work NTV spotted the real talent in Sheila

When Maurice Mugisha spotted her, she was immediately called in for an interview at NTV and she started working immediately after passing the interview. She was a reporter for only 7 months and when she reported to the voice control room, it was noticed that she could anchor news perfectly.

Sheila admits she was nervous on her first day as the news anchor but loved the experience. In a space of one year, Sheila has trumped over all senior news anchors. The likes of Josephine Karungi and Brain Mulondo all were ignored. It was like they lost the job. Sheila took over everything.

On links with the state

Sheila’s family is close to the first family and they are close neighbour in Kiruhura. When her Dad became a Bishop, he used his position to link her daughter to the right people in the government. In the end, she found herself into the circles of the first son, Gen Muhoozi. This was enough for Sheila to build her career. She is a personal friend to the first son.

It is even believed that through the first son; Sheila had to interview the first lady. It was the first media interview the first lady has ever done.

On her rise to fame

Sheila is soft spoken and is also a quiet girl who is very reserved. Her personality attracted influential people to her. This has helped her to where she is now. Maurice Mugisha realised the potential she has and pushed her to the right direction.

Sheila has no friends in the NTV newsroom

Sheila has workmates but not friends at work. She only goes to the newsroom on purpose. When she is on duty, that’s when she is there. She claims NTV has more hypocrites. She chooses to keep a way. Her close friends are in Kigali. She travels to Kigali frequently when she is free. That’s where most her trusted friends and ones she went to school with live.

Nothing matters to her than her Dad

Sheila and her father are so inseparable. She says, media can write anything about her. The only thing that makes the difference is that her father got used and knows her well more than anyone. She says that when she joined the media, she briefed her father what to expect. That saves her. She loves her Dad so much.

About getting married

Sheila has no plans of getting married soon. She once loved a guy but later realised that he was married and had children. She gave up on the relationship.
