One dead, 8 in custody over robbery in Kampala

One suspected thug identified as Junior Agaba, 18, a former street child has been shot dead and eight others arrested in three separate incidences on Sunday. 

According to Luke Owoyesigyire deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesman, Agaba was shot by a security guard attached to Protection Security Company while trying to break into a shop in kikajjo zone.

His three colleagues are said to have escaped after the shooting on Sunday morning at around 3 a.m.

Meanwhile, two more incidents happened at Mengo Hill Road and Ivory Plaza in city centre at around 1:30am and 2:30am respectively. A Flying Squad Unit police officer sighted the thugs and alerted a 999 Patrol vehicle at Mengo,

Owoyesigyire explains that police officers found the thugs who  had broken into a hardware shop loading iron sheets on a white Isuzu registration number UAZ 332J, a Isuzu Lorry.

The suspects were arrested at the scene with the items they were stealing. They were handed over to CPS in Kampala. 

Also, five suspects were apprehended breaking into shops at Ivory Plaza in city centre. The suspects are also detained at CPS Kampala.
