The High Court in Kampala presided over by Justice Moses Kazibwe has on Monday found Brian Bagyenda and two others guilty of the murder of his girlfriend Enid Twijukye.
The others are; Innocent Bainomugisha, a Cleaner and a Casual Laborer Vincent Rwahwire.
The development followed dismissal of the defense’s insanity plea, saying it’s an afterthought to escape justice.
Brian also son to ISO boss Col., murdered Kaka Bagenda Enid Twijukye, a student at Makerere University Business School on January 4th 2016 at his house in Luzira. Court heard that the deceased had an intimate relationship with Bagyenda before he took her dear life.
Psychologist, Sister Jane Francis Nantamu who was brought in as an expert witness told court that Bagyenda needed psychotherapy treatment from a conducive environment rather than prison.
She further narrated that she was approached by Bagyenda’s mother in April 2017, to counsel her son who was likely to harm himself. And that during her visits to Prison, where Bagyenda was detained, she established that he was suffering from severe depression.
This however was thrown out by the judge who based his judgement on 16 prosecution witnesses. He argued that the accused was in sound mind when he committed the murder and even remembered to pay off his co-accused.
