Kampala buzzed with festivity as 2023 drew to a close, with numerous music events lighting up the city. However, the Enkuuka celebration in Lubiri, Mengo, organized by Promoter Abitex, took a disappointing turn when violence erupted backstage.

Many talented musicians graced the stage, but the night's momentum was disrupted when singer Sheebah Karungi declined to perform after witnessing the altercation.

Taking to social media, she shared:

"I sat for some hours before stepping on stage at ENKUUKA YO OMWAKA, then boom, the sound went off, and fights started. If you know me well, I don't associate with violence. It's not worth it. So I left. That's my story. I heard, as usual, wrong information is spreading around, though in 2024, I am controlling the narrative! Period. Starting from today, January 1, 2024, I will be speaking my truth! Shoot me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Happy NEW YEAR πŸ₯‚πŸ”₯πŸ”₯."

Adding further fuel to the fire were reports of fellow singers being targeted by projectiles thrown from the crowd. Notably, Ray G, a singer from Mbarara, faced the brunt of this unfortunate behavior, receiving a drenching of urine, water, and alcohol from thrown bottles.

This incident comes amidst recent friction between artists from central and western Uganda, stemming from a previous stage incident involving Ray G and Azawi.
