President of the United States of America, Barrack Obama will make his first trip to his father’s native country, Kenya in July this year, the White House has announced.

Barrack Obama, whose father was born and raised in Kenya, will be in the East African country in July for bilateral meetings and the 2015 Global Entrepremeurship Summit, an annual conference that connects entrepreneurs with business leaders, international organisations and governments.

Speaking on Obama’s visit to the country, Press Secretary, Josh Earnest in a statement released on March 30, 2015, said: ‘His trip will build on the success of the August 2014 U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit and continue our efforts to work with countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including Kenya, to accelerate economic growth, strengthen democratic institutions, and improve security.’

This will be the Obama’s fourth trip to Sub-Saharan Africa, following his last trip to South Africa in December 2013 for the funeral of Nelson Mandela. He has earlier visited Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania in 2013.
