On Tuesday Cisse was arrested by the police near Paris in Versailles. However, the football player was released without charge late in the afternoon.
According to Vanguard’s judicial source, the three other people who are suspected of attempting to blackmail Lyon player Valbuena remained in custody. The source says that they are in possession of a sex tape, but the existence of the tape has yet to be proven.
Valbuena’s lawyers say that they would not comment while the investigation was under way.
It also should be noted that Cisse himself made a complaint to police in 2008 after claiming he was the target of a blackmail attempt involving a sex tape.
Cisse played for numerous clubs including Auxerre, Marseille, Sunderland, Lazio, Panathinaikos. He won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005.
