Sanyuka TV, which is owned by Next Media, the same company under which NBS TV falls, has been turned into a sports channel and will predominantly show local football matches.
This development according to sources was initiated by Star Times which is sponsoring The Uganda Premier League.
Sanyuka is one of the few channels which only exist on Star Times.
A big event is being organised to launch the station as a sports channel at Namboole stadium before the league kicks off.
Although many have lost jobs, entertainment presenters will stay with the station. It is said, 20% of the time will be dedicated to entertainment programs.
Big Deal is one of the major shows that will stay.
