The Ugandan music industry has always been dominated by male musicians.

With the likes of Bobi Wine, Bebe Cool, and Jose Chameleone setting the pace for over two decades, other male artists followed in their footsteps despite stiff competition.

These include; Radio and Weasel, Eddy Kenzo, Rabadaba, John Blaq, and Fik Fameica among others.

A few female artists like Julian Kanyomozi, Iryn Namubiru, Cindy, Lilian Mbabazi, Chandiru, Rema, Sheebah, Winnie Nwagi, and  Lydia Jazmine also defied odds to curve their space in the industry.

With the recent rise of Azawi, Vinka among others, Sheila Gashumba believes female musicians are doing a lot better than male musicians.

“Female musicians are doing better than male musicians in Uganda,” she said.

However, Douglas Lwanga strongly disagreed with Sheila Gashumba’s view.
