Gagamel boss Bebe Cool has begged musicians to stop focusing more on the international market and instead put emphasis on growing fan base at home.

“No musician becomes rich by doing shows outside Uganda. Big money is here. I see many musicians investing a lot to win the international crowd, it is not bad, but it doesn’t fetch big returns. Some people get 35M when they go to perform outside. I get 200M by doing a show at Kiwatule. That’s because I have built a brand that is appreciated locally,” Bebe Cool explains.

Bebe Cool used Azawi as an example, stating that even though Azawi has better music with international recognition, singers like Spice Diana register more return on investment.
