Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) issued a directive that all gossip shows must air between 10 pm and 5 am and this notice left the public opinion divided.
A section of viewers including musicians are dissatisfied with the UCC directive.
Musicians like Lil Pazo and Gravity Omutujju say that despite hitting celebs hard, they helped promote talent and kept fans up to date with music news.
“I used shows like Uncut to promote my shows. I call upon UCC to revise its decision,” Omutujju said in an interview.
According to music analyst Eddy Sendi, gossip shows are not only a great source of entertainment, but also a basis of livelihood.
“I think UCC used an axe to kill a mosquito. A meeting should be held to review the decision,” Sendi explained.
The affected shows like Uncut, Live Wire, Round About, and many more.
