Rubaga South MP Kato Lubwama together with Theatrical Association Uganda Ltd has sued the government for allowing an open music show by Nigerian artistes, Omah Lay and Tems.

He bases his case on the fact that local musicians were banned from performing due to Covid-19 restrictions in March 2020.

Kato Lubwama claims that for the last nine months, they have not been able to perform thereby suffering economic losses estimated at Shs 2bn.

The legislator wants the court to declare that the government especially security agencies were reckless, unreasonable, and infringed on the rights to a clean and healthy environment guaranteed under Article 39 of the Constitution.

Among others that were sued are, East Meets West Ltd, Ivan Ddungu trading as Ddungu Resort, Kasana Events, National Environment Management Authority (Nema), Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), and Attorney General (AG).
