Socialite Sulaiman Kabangala Mbuga alias SK Mbuga has been in Dubai jail for the last 8 months after he was arrested on grounds of fraud.

News landing the Howwe desk indicates that SK Mbuga is not yet out of jail like it had been reported few days ago by his family members.

SK Mbuga will remain in Dubai maximum security prison until he pays Shs 937m ( $250,000 ) and another unspecified amount of money that he allegedly defrauded from a businessman, who resides in Dubai.

Upon payment, SK Mbuga is expected to be taken to court for sentencing.

Furthermore, SK Mbuga is also trailed by Oman businessman, who he allegedly defrauded an unspecified amount, a reason he has not appeared in court.

"In United Arab Emirates, cases like this one are very serious; he cannot be taken to court minus making payments" an insider revealed during an interview with one of the local media outlets.

Last month, there were unconfirmed reports that Mbuga was due to be freed from Al Awiir central jail but he was accused by Dubai businessman Mr Ali Ahmad Ahmad Bur Omar for issueing a bouncing cheque  worth $250,000 hence further delay in his search for freedom.

The news of SK Mbuga's continued detention was confirmed by state minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Oryem Okello.

"He has asked our embassy in Abu Dhabi for consular services to have him released from jail and we are doing exactly that but he is not yet back in the country,"  Hon. Henry Okello confirmed.

It should be remembered that SK Mbuga's name was not among the list of Ugandans detained in Dubai prisons because he had not been formally charged in court and sentenced.
