I wouldn’t be wrong if I say most people choose a partner mostly based on what we see…in other words, we choose a partner based on superficial things.
There is nothing wrong in settling for a partner that you term attractive, but where it gets wrong is when you set looks as the major criteria in choosing your partner; anyone who does this doesn’t really see the full picture.
Ever wondered why most Prominent Celebrities Choose Average Looking Partners? I have six reasons why beauty isn’t gold when settling for a relationship partner:
1. YOU COULD BE PRONE TO CHEAT
I don’t believe that there is a ‘most beautiful girl’ in the world or a most handsome; so how far can one really go to look for that beautiful lady or handsome man? If beauty is what majorly attracts you to a person then you would never have enough of it, and this could mean you would end up cheating on your partner in order to satisfy that quest for beauty.
2. LOOKS DON’T GUARANTEE COMPATIBILITY
Compatibility is essential for a relationship to be successful, but the fact that a person is absolutely good-looking doesn’t mean that you would be absolutely compatible with that person. Most people who indulge in such relationships or marriage rarely have a success story to tell.
3. YOU COULD BE FORCED TO GO AGAINST ALL ODDS TO GET THAT PARTNER
This is mostly common in men, but not only men; women also go over the odds to get a man that they deem good-looking. When this happens, you could let yourself down in the process, and your value might not be really felt by that partner. When beauty strikes a person to go over the odds to get a partner, you might get that partner, but your value might never be worth it…you could probably get used.
4. LOOKS DON’T GUARANTEE LOVE
For a relationship to succeed, love should exist, love shouldn’t be one-sided and love should as well be a major factor; but these three concepts would hardly ever be met when looks is your driving point for a relationship with someone.
5. LOOKS DON’T GUARANTEE GOOD CHARACTER OR PERSONALITY
We all want a partner with a worthy character or personality, but you could agree with me that the character of a person isn’t measured or guaranteed by how good-looking or bad-looking a person is. A woman can be so beautiful and be the most nagging wife ever; a man can be so handsome and still be very violent towards women…at the end of the day, looks is deceitful and doesn’t guarantee anything.
6. YOU COULD GET USED TO A PERSON’S GOOD LOOKS
From afar, a man can be a prince charming and a woman a goddess, but we get used to how good-looking people are over a period of time. There could come a point in time in a relationship or marriage where you would need more than those good looks and when that person don’t seem to give more, you would be tired of it all.
Also, like every other natural thing, beauty fades away, it dies a natural death…and how then would your feelings stand strong if the beauty isn’t anything to write home about?
