Zzina Award nominee, Nelly Sade is basking in uncommon hustle. The rapper has sold 1K copies of his album. He had a chat about this and many more things.
Q: How is your year so far?
My year started off well. Am back in studios to work on my 3rd album.
Q: Congratulations! How did you sell a thousand copies? Wakikola otya?
Thank you. Well, it has not been an easy go. I had to learn from the mistakes I made on my debut album (The Translation). This time around,
I did a lot of media tours across Uganda and tried covering the whole of the East African region. I traveled to Kenya and covered at least 9 media stations and also managed to get an outlet to sell my album CDs from there. Social media and a word of mouth has also played a great role.
Q: Could album sales become the next big thing?
Yes, it could've been but most rappers in Uganda waste a lot of time in looking for hit songs. When they fail, they quit and others put the blame on the industry, fans & the media.
Q: Man, we don't see your videos. What's up!
Hahaha, well I haven't released any new video since Nina Plan in 2014. Am working on some new visuals this year, but don't expect them to be in rotation. Most of my songs are not the kind of music the televisions want in rotation; no girls, no nice cars, no money, just messages. Lol
Q: What's End of the weak about?
Well, am the End of the Weak Uganda ambassador. My role is to organize local MC Challenges and take the champion at the world finals. This year we shall be representing in Geneva, Switzerland.
Q: Is beef the way for younger rappers?
Beef can NOT help rappers in an infant industry.
Q: What are you cooking?
My fans should expect collabos and more videos this year. I'll be working on my third album. Which could soon be up there
Q: Winnie Nwangi or Desire for a private vacation?
Both of them. Bonna tebakola sense!
