Five Forum for Democratic Change supporters in Soroti district are in hot soup after they were arrested for allegedly defacing posters belonging to Soroti Municipality parliamentary candidate, Herbert Edmund Ariko.

The five threw themselves in a pan of hot soup on Tuesday night at Pamba Ward in Eastern Division of Soroti district when they defaced Ariko’s posters with those of their favorite candidate Moses Attan Okia, who is vying for the same seat as an independent.

Attan lost to Ariko in the FDC primaries, forcing him to contest as an independent.

The Soroti District Police Commander, Moses Ochieng confirms the arrests but explains that the suspects have vehemently denied the allegations.

Athanasius Katongole, the FDC chairperson for Central Ward terms the allegations against him and his colleagues as baseless and done out of political intrigue.
