Opposition Member of Parliament who recently won in the just concluded General election have been advised to reject poll results as was of showing dissatisfaction in the process.

The call was made by the Enock Opio Okoler the Democratic Party-DP spokesperson who says his party does not recognize H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the president elect.

On Saturday, the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama declared Museveni winner of the January 14th 2021 presidential election with 5,851,037 votes.

Robert Kyagulanyi of National Unity Platform-NUP came second with 3,475,298 votes, while Patrick Oboi Amuriat from the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change-FDC came third with 323,536 votes and the Alliance for National Transformation-ANT president, Gen. Gregg Mugisha Muntu came fourth with 65,334 votes.

Meanwhile, the DP candidate Norbert Mao came fifth with 55,665 votes.

However despite their humiliating loss, Okoler told journalists that the entire election right from the campaigns was marred with human rights violations and can’t pass the test of free and fair elections.

He noted that the party will not go to court and will not encourage any candidate to take the same path as they will only be legitimizing the process.

Okoler advised other opposition parties under the Unity in Diversity forum to reject the election wholesomely and shun taking up their Parliamentary seats and focus their energies on mobilizing their constituents to push out the ruling government.

He called these wins small victories that shouldn’t be accepted and that the main victory is removing the ruling NRM Government.
