Police warns MP Aspirants to avoid processions as they head for nominations tomorrow

Member of Parliament aspirants shall not be allowed to have a procession as they head to the electoral commission offices for nomination starting tomorrow Thursday.

The electoral commission set Thursday 15th and Friday 16th October 2020 for nomination of Member of Parliament aspirants after a directive from the speaker Rebecca Kadaga who argued that married women still needed more time to change their names.

All aspirants shall be nominated in their various districts in an exercise that will begin at 9am to 5pm.

Now, Kampala metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says all aspirants will be allocated a route to use and no processions will be allowed in order to avoid traffic jam.

“We are currently faced with issues of traffic. The traffic department is going to give guidelines and we expect aspirants to follow these guidelines. Each aspiring MP will be given a route to use. The processions, trust me we shall stop them, I know most of us are going to use this as sympathy among your voters but we shall stop them because they are illegal” Owoyesigyire warned.
