Security has been heightened in Ssembabule district as National Resistance Movement, NRM members in the areas of Mawogola North and Mawoola West go to polls in the party primaries to elect flag bearers for Member of Parliament.

Road blocks have been mounted to ensure no outsiders enter the constituencies to disrupt elections. NRM Party electoral commission Chairman Dr Odoi Tanga and the Deputy IGP Maj Gen Sabiiti Muzeeyi have pitched camp in one of the most violent areas in the country.

In Mawogola North, the hot contest is between President Yoweri Museveni’s younger brother Godfrey Aine Kaguta and Shartsi Musherure; a daughter to Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kahamba Kuteesa.

While in Mawogola West constituency, the contest is between the incumbent Joseph Ssekabitto and Ssembabule district Woman MP Haniffa Kawoya.

According to Muhammad Nsubuga the Greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson, every sub county has been assigned a DPC and over 200 police officers to man security.
Meanwhile, allegations of voter bribery keep increasing with each camp blaming the other of paying off voters.

Voting kicks off at 12:00noon.
