The ruling National Resistance Movement party, NRM candidates have emerged victors in both Hoima and Kaabong Districts woman MP elections.

Harriet Businge and Tubo Christine Nakwang are the newly elected women representatives for Hoima & Kaabong districts respectively.
In Hoima, the race was so tight between Businge and her Forum for Democratic Change, FDC candidate Nyakato Asinasi who had been declared winner by her fans from the People Powers Pressure group.
However, the District Returning Officer Matsiko Douglas officially declared Businge winner of the election at 30:30am in the wee hours of Friday, after she polled 33,301 votes against her rival Asanasi's 28,789 votes.

62,090 votes were cast, 1,690 rejected, 63,780 counted while 128 ballots were spoilt.

The election was peaceful according to Chrispin Kaheru the CCEDU Coordinator who had dispatched a team of electoral observers in the area, though a few cases of violence were reported in some parts of the district and the FDC Deputy Secretary General Harold Kaija was arrested by military police for assaulting a police officer.

Earlier this week, President Yoweri Museveni camped in Hoima for two days, canvassing votes for Businge. Many a Ugandan, saw this as a Museveni vs an opposition coalition race and not one between the actual candidates.

FDC's Asanasi had support from all opposition parties including pressure group People Power. Gen. Mugisha Muntu of Anti, Col Kiiza Besigye, Robert Kyagulanyi of People Power pressure group joined their FDC counterparts to campaign for Asanasi. Even DP's Norbert Mao announced that his party members had been tasked to rally behind Asanasi.

Unfortunately, this did not yield a winning result. Election results coming through WhatsApp indicated that she had won, until the final result from the returning officer was announced.

Meanwhile in Kaabong district, the race was between NRM's Tubo Christine Nakwang who emerged victor, and Adyaka Judith Nalibe.
At exactly 1:10am, the district returning officer Ogwang Julius Ongom announced Nakwang winner, after she polled 22,532 against her rival Adyaka's 1,692 votes.

24,224 ballots were cast, 1,965 were rejected (Invalid ballots), 26,189 ballots were counted, while 109 were spoilt. The announcement was made at Court Hall Kaabong.
