Kampala central MP Muhammad Nsereko is a troubled man after the High Court in Kampala summoned him to respond to claims that he is the reason why FDC secretary for mobilization, Ms Ingrid Turinawe lost in the February 28th East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) elections.

The summons signed Wednesday by Alex Ajiji the Deputy Registrar in-charge of civil matters, gives Hon. Nsereko only 15 days within which to file his written defence in court or else Justice Patricia Wasswa Basaza proceeds to deliver a judgment without his side of the story.

Turinawe received only 25 votes after a difficult campaign that at some point saw MPS chase her from their canteen for what they claimed was her bad manners. MPs led by Sembabule woman MP Hanifa Kawooya chased Turinawe away from the canteen after accusing her of branding them Mpigs. They argued Mpigs cannot vote humans.

But last week, a furious Turinawe dragged hon. Nsereko who was too vocal against her candidature to court accusing him of defamation. She claims Nsereko uttered defamatory words against her to the effect that she is behind the protest campaign of dropping piglets bearing MPs’ names at parliament and that she receives money from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) for supplying NAADS seedlings.

She accuses him of defaming her on national television on September 19, 2016. She claims it’s the same words that cost her an election which saw MPs shout and deny her audience during the campaigns on the floor of parliament.

Ingrid seeks damages of Shs400 million from the flamboyant MP for the reputational injury she suffered since his words have portrayed her as someone who casts MPs as piglets.

She is also demanding a public apology from Mr. Nsereko on the same national television he used to defame her.
